A-levels are still seen as an academic gold standard and although always being aware of developments in qualifications such as the IB and Pre U, we still feel that A-levels provide the best overall route to university.
A unique feature of the college is the scope of A-level combinations we offer, nearly forty different courses are available. This means that we are able to cater for students wishing to approach all areas of study from university. From Medicine and Dentistry to Classics or Law, we are always able to tailor an appropriate structure for individuals. Our secret is the small nature of the groups in the college (average 6) which always allows an individualized approach to the learning experience.
In addition to exploring the broader aspects of each subject we never lose focus on the examination needs of each subject. As such students will sit mock examinations every two weeks in the Autumn and Spring terms of each year of study. This allows tutors to easily identify the level of progress being made by each student and to deal with any problem areas as they arise.
We also recognize however that the social life of the college is key in ensuring the welfare and personal development of students within the college. The focus of this is the elected student council who work with senior tutors to ensure a full programme of extra curricular activities is always available. Many of the recent social and sporting activities can be found on the news page of this website. |
