'The small group environment at Chelsea allows for personalised teaching, with a strong emphasis on individual learning.'
'Students receive very regular feedback on their progress both through a structured testing regime and through homework assignments.'

Courses

We believe that the key to academic success lies in the ability of a highly qualified teaching staff to inspire individuals in an academic and yet informal environment. As such the college has a warm and informal feel and we keep our groups for GCSE courses and A-level courses very small, with an average of only 6 or 7 students in a class. The strong relationships students build with their tutors is key to their ongoing personal and academic development and it is something we are very proud of.

In addition to this informality however we never lose site of the importance of examinations and the rigorous demands placed on students both at GCSE and A-level. As such examination material forms a vital part of the curriculum and students sit regular mock examinations in each of their subjects on a fortnightly basis. This coupled with an extensive homework regime ensures the highest performance in public examinations.

Students naturally ask what it feels like to be studying GCSE, GCSE retake or A-level retakes at Chelsea. The answer is varied and depends on the individual but I think a few key points help to give guidance on this question:

We will always treat you as an individual and cater to your individual needs
You will be treated as an adult in a friendly but academically rigorous environment
Relationships with your tutors will always be based on mutual respect
There will be a large range of extra-curricular activities and you may be as involved in these as you choose
You make a good friendship circle at the college, and many of these will become friends for life
You will always be treated with respect
You will enjoy your time both academic and social at the college
