French

Specification – Edexcel

French is still important in the global market and taking an A Level in French prepare
students to be well-informed and effective communicators; it helps them to gain confidence
and to find a job with a multi-national firm in the UK or abroad.
The A level takes place over two years:

A/S Level and A2 Level.

The new Qualification has :

Two Units at A/S and two Units at A2 ( Oral, Listening, Reading, Writing)

The aim of each unit is to develop an interest for the language, develop understanding of
the language in a variety of contexts and genres, communicate confidently, clearly and
effectively in the language and develop awareness and understanding of the contemporary
society.

Some freedom is given to the students to study topics they are interested in and after two
years most students are near fluent, however at least a B at GCSE is expected to achieve
this goal.
